My name is George Hawkins, I am twenty-one years old and I am an artist based in Southampton, England.

    I have always loved art and I have wanted to be an artist for as long as I can remember. I loved any art lesson I had in school, I read my dad's art books at home and one of my favourite memories is of being taken to The National Gallery when I was ten years old and being so completely in awe of everything there; I spent all my time copying pictures from books and trying to get my family members to sit still so I could draw them.

    Throughout my formal education I developed my work, experimenting and learning different skills, always trying to find ways to say something through my art and always trying to find out what I wanted to say. After finishing my A-Levels at Queen Mary's College, Basingstoke, I sold my first piece of art and have steadily been taking on more commissions since then.

 

    I am currently studying fine art as a student at Southampton Solent University, and I hope to continue to develop my work going forward.
